How Does It Work?

The Card

GiftFlex® Gift Cards are the modern plastic card equivalent to Paper Gift Vouchers, but based on the MasterCard’s Global payment card system, leveraging existing banking payment systems, including operating rules, settlement procedures and fraud prevention.

The front of the Card features your branding including name and logo, GiftFlex® flag, Maestro® mark, and the personalisation details including the PAN number, Validity Dates and the name "GIFT CARD RECIPIENT".

GiftFlex® will liaise with you and your graphic designers to design your card and subsequently manage all necessary MasterCard® design certifications prior to manufacturing cards.

Selling Cards

The Gift Cards are sold at your Shopping Centre's Information Desks or Customer Service Desks.

They are available with bespoke packaging, again branded, rendering the card attractive as a gift on its own.

The specific packaging includes a greeting card, which can be tailored to meet the purchaser’s choice i.e. Birthday, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas etc, the full Terms & Conditions and Fee Schedule, which will also be available on the cardholder dedicated web site: www.mygiftflexcard.com. The packaging design can also accommodate “in-box” advertising flyers for which you can draw additional revenue.

We supply the activation equipment, which enable funds to be loaded and activate the card at the time of the purchase.

GiftFlex® will, in partnership with you, agree a marketing strategy to promote the card in tune with your own marketing policy.

Loading Value

The GiftFlex® Gift Cards are not pre-denominated therefore the purchaser can choose the value to be loaded. The value loaded is stored on our card processors host system awaiting retail transactions. The Value will be loaded at the time of the purchase of the card. The entirety of the loaded value will be available to spend less any usage and maintenance fees as described in the Cardholder Terms and Conditions. www.mygiftflexcard.com.

Cardholder Usage

The Gift Card purchased will be subsequently given as a gift. The recipient (the Cardholder) once in receipt of the Gift Card will be able to use it as conveniently as any other Maestro® payment card, provided that sufficient funds are available for each transaction.

The benefit of an electronic card over current paper pre-denominated vouchers is that retailers do not need to provide change in cash and can also be used as part payment or until the loaded value is spent.

The Terms and Conditions for the Card holder will encourage the recording and safe storage of the card number. This will provide the Cardholder with protection in the event that the card is lost or stolen, the user has the opportunity to phone the GiftFlex® helpdesk where an immediate stop will be put against the card number and a new card may be issued for the remaining load value.

Balance enquiries can be obtained 24 hours, 7 days a week, by either logging onto the cardholder dedicated web site: www.mygiftflexcard.com, and at the Customer Service Desk in your centre.

Financial Settlement

Retailers accept cards in accordance with their existing agreement with their Card Acquiring Bank. The expenditure made using the GiftFlex® Gift Card will be settled via Newcastle Building Society through the MasterCard® network.
